BBI Launches Fast Casual Sushi Franchise, Sushi Freak

With the sushi product category exploding onto the national restaurant scene, Beautiful Brands International (BBI) announced today the official franchise launch of their brand new Sushi Freak fast causal create-your-own sushi concept, in a campaign targeting all 50 states and select nations around the world.

Dubbed the world’s first “create your own sushi brand,” Sushi Freak is poised to expand rapidly and sign at least 100 franchise agreements in the first nine months of 2012. BBI expects 50 stores open and operating by the end of the first quarter 2013.

“There’s no question the sushi product niche is hotter than ever before,” says David Rutkauskas, BBI founder, president, and CEO. “Our franchise concept is about re-inventing what people have come to expect from a typical sushi restaurant. We allow customers to see their order being made fresh and have their food custom made just for them.”

The agreement between Sushi Freak and Beautiful Brands International will utilize BBI’s organizational and support system to market and franchise the brand on a national and global scale. BBI’s support will include marketing, real estate, architecture, legal, franchise sales, and other aspects of franchise development.

Sushi Freak is being positioned as a fast-casual sushi concept with very low start up costs and a small footprint of about 1200 square feet or less.

“Our passion is to connect with sushi lovers worldwide, who seek distinction in quality and taste, while also providing affordability,” Rutkauskas says. “Our typical customer is very smart and discerning when it comes to what they eat and how much they want to pay for quality sushi.

“They come to us because they know they’re getting exactly what they want—the freshest sushi available—without having to empty out their wallets. Sushi Freak is a restaurant that looks and feels completely upscale—that is, until you look at our prices.”

Founded in 2010 in San Diego, CA by Michael Broder and Jenifer Duarte, Sushi Freak has become a huge favorite with sushi fans on the West Coast seeking upscale dining without the premium prices.

Sushi Freak guests have the option of customizing their dining choices with a four step process that allows them to interact with sushi rollers and create their own sushi roll masterpiece.

Although a fast-casual concept, Sushi Freak offers the same high quality ingredients as major upscale restaurants on the West Coast, using only the freshest quality fish, handmade sauces, and locally sourced vegetables and produce.

“Sushi Freak is absolutely fresh and affordable,” Rutkauskas says.
